ABOUT D'AIXA

D'aixa is a Victoria based furniture designer and creator business. D'aixa is translated from Catalan and means "made by adze", an ancient tool used by ship makers for smoothing out, carving and shaping wood.

In D'aixa we are passionate about furniture design, woodworking and wall art.

Over the last few years we have focused on working with epoxy resin to add to our designs not only a touch of colour, but elegance and contemporaneity. We get our inspiration from different techniques and styles, aiming to bring to your home a unique and high-end piece of furniture that connects with you and your space.

We work with different types of timber in the pursue of new creations and shapes of functional art.

All our products are handmade and one of a kind. Although imperfections can be expected due to the nature of the materials, we put a lot of effort aiming to achieve a dazzling look that will catch your eye.

We hope you enjoy exploring our site that includes past projects and the ones that are currently available.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS GUIDE

Below you will find some general care guidelines for a good maintenance of our products. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

- You can clean your serving boards wiping down with a damp cloth. Don't place directly on your serving boards hot objects or any other that can leave or cause scratches, gauges or markings.

- Do not saturate or submerge your serving boards in water.

- Do not put your serving boards in the dishwasher.

- Our serving boards are intended as an ornamental piece, for display and serving, not as cutting board. The wood's grain and epoxy resin will show damage if you cut on them with a knife, or place any other sharp utensil on them.

- For all our products in general, do not expose them directly to the light for long periods of time. They are intended to be indoors. Although we use UV light protection resin, it might be at risk of discolouring. Wood also can be affected by sunlight exposure, humidity and temperature changes.

- Wood will dry out over time and it is also expected for it to expand and contract, as it is a natural material. For its protection, it will be important to apply on it, depending on the use, a layer of natural oil ( i.e. mineral oil, linseed oil, beewax... ) so to help it stay in good condition and prolong the look and feel of the wood. With many of our products we use Hardwax Oil, specifically designed to protect from shallow scratches on the wood and to improve its natural look, allowing it at the same time to breath.
Although resin doesn't need special maintenance, it can be polished with a polishing compound over time to eliminate light scratches and recover its original shiny finish.

- Refinishing/improvement services:  If at some point, and despite of a good maintenance, you would like us to refinish or repair your product, contact us and we will be happy to help you. Price will depend on the piece and the level of work to do.
